It seems to me that any royal family could easily be housed in a small palace somewhere in London - like Downing Street, only different - and those huge palaces with the extensive grounds could be turned into museums and parkland.

Pretty much.

Has anyone figured how much it would cost to run such a thing? Making Buckingham Palace into a museum?
I got nothing to say here.

Probably around the same cost to make a museum from anything else of similar structure.

OK. And how much would that be?

I am sure it would generate a lot of money to cover costs.

What I was saying is that a museum seems like rather generic undertaking, especially if it were repurposed from a palace. A better question would almost entail the cost of deconstructing the palace itself.

Why may I ask are you curious about such an endeavor?

Could you restate that, please? I don't believe you've successfully conveyed the ideas you had in mind with that sentence.

When the average CEO makes 350x their employee.

When the cost of healthcare is phenomenally higher than the next developed country.

That's when you know you have a failure of a system.

Just wondering what it would cost to maintain such a palace to be a museum. Something where it wouldn't need taxes to pay for.

The other thing would be how they would set it up so if let's say 5 million people per year go through it, don't damage the palace just by walking and breathing in it. Stuff like that.

Versailles has an annual budget of 100 million euros and is self-funding enough to pay for operating costs. Best comparison I can think of. There's a detailed breakdown in the annual reports PDF. At least I'm pretty sure that's what those are, I don't read French or accountant.
