The firm DeSantis hired is Ted Cruz's old employer. Not exactly top shelf talent.

*bursts into laughter* Wait. You're serious? Let me laugh even harder BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAclearspira wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 5:38 pm He's a bit like Joe Biden is old Rudy. He was something special once. Go and watch some film set in New York in the early 90s to see how well he cleaned up that city. I would recommend Home Alone 2.
What "cleaned up" New York City was hiring an additional 7,000 cops, which was done under his predecessor. Giuliani just rode on a wave of crime rates declining on their own and increased policing, which all was already set when he went into office. What he did, was crack down hard on graffiti-artists, turnstile jumping and potheads. Hardly New York's most pressing problems at the time. Also the amount of incidents of police-violence (e.g. killing of unarmed suspects) and civil rights violations soared under his "leadership".

Its called the broken window theory and I for one absolutely believe it to be true. Small crimes lead to larger ones. Crack down on those and you will combat the big stuff - simple as that. And it is undeniable that New York's streets pre-2000 looked horrible.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 8:47 pm*bursts into laughter* Wait. You're serious? Yeah. Alot of what Rudy gets credit for is due to alot of legwork done for at least ten years before him. Even the graffiti isn't because of Rudy. There was a big shift during the 80's to start cleaning up cities. Graffiti was part of that, but also trash among other things. Obviously not 100% successful and depends on the city. Philadelphia is one example of this.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 6:10 amIts called the broken window theory and I for one absolutely believe it to be true. Small crimes lead to larger ones. There's also the fact that New York City gentrified the fuck out all of the poor people.
Manhattan is much nicer if you don't mind the fact it's 9000 dollars per month for a hot dog stand position.

DeSantis essentially has no policies related to economics and only culture wars: gays, black history, "wokeness", and trans rights are all things that disguise the fact he has no way to improve the lives of anyone in Florida--but it got him elected. The problem with Disney is that it's already faced the Baptist Church Boycott before and it won handily. It doesn't even WANT to fight this war but it's not going to back down either.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 6:19 pm It kinda feel like a dumb bully going after the popular kid, why do you think this will work out for you?
DeSantis isn't used to that.

Well, if nobody is happy, then happyness is equally distributed. That's a quite socialist method, isn't it?CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 9:08 pmdisguise the fact he has no way to improve the lives of anyone in Florida--but it got him elected.
