Re: Egg Boy
So you do believe assault that assault should be punished. Interesting.

You should watch, what actually happened and I am also fairly convinced, that the senator in question doesn't think of his points of view as stupid. Your analogy fails right there to begin with. And you are certainly not going to laugh it off, if someone crashes an egg into the rear of your head with his flat hand, while you are being interviewed about something you are deeply convinced of. Not even necessarily because he interrupted your interview, but because the slap accompanying the crashing of the egg, is quite an impactful happening, in particular when it comes unexpected. Slapping someone in the back of their head, is quite hurtful.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:17 pmIf someone EGGS me for saying something stupid as an elected official, I'd take it and laugh, then call them a douchebag. If someone PUNCHES me, I'll call the cops and let them sort it out.
What I wouldn't do is escalate the situation by responding to someone cracking an egg over my head with a punch.

Fine. If someone egged me, no matter why, I'd laugh at them and call it a douchebag. Happy?Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:26 pmYou should watch, what actually happened and I am also fairly convinced, that the senator in question doesn't think of his points of view as stupid. I've seen the video. Anning was clearly in the wrong, and I think that he should be fined for assault for escalating the situation.

Re: Egg Boy
Honestly, I don't get why people want to just let dumbass kids think they have the right to egg people without impunity. I mean yeah, he shouldn't stab the kid beat him bloody, but a punch or two in the face isn't that big a deal.
Re: Egg Boy
I think they should both be fined for acting like thugs. Crazy, I know.

Bingo. One used violence, even though argueably mild, but nontheless violence and thus escalated the situation needlessly. The other used violence in retaliation and escalated the situation as well. This is not how we should solve our problems in a civilized society, no matter how much I think the senator deserves a rotten egg right into his face or how much I think the senator acted in self-defense. Both are in the wrong.

It'd be damn near impossible to find a jury up for convicting the kid, though.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:44 pmBingo. If there's a jury up for convicting the senator, then there must be one up for convicting the teenager. The judicial system can be safely considered broken, if not.

I disagree. The Senator blamed the victims of a mass murder for being mass-murdered on the day they were mass-murdered. The kid cracked an egg on the Senator's head to protest this statement.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:54 pm If there's a jury up for convicting the senator, then there must be one up for convicting the teenager. Kid probably SHOULD be given a token fine, but who would seriously bother except for obviously biased fans of the Senator? Whereas it should be easy enough to find 12 of whatever Australia's equivalent of hillbillies are who don't care about anything that happens outside Australia and who can give Anning a fair trial. They probably won't take it too seriously, either, but since he's important it'll be easier to justify the expense.
Re: Egg Boy
It was often difficult to find a jury in the Jim Crow South to convict a white person of murdering a black person (especially if the accusation of rape was involved) - does that make it right?Worffan101 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:46 pmIt'd be damn near impossible to find a jury up for convicting the kid, though.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:44 pmBingo.
