The great 2020 election thread....

Apparently Tara Reade has filed a criminal complaint against Joe Biden for an alleged sexual assault from 1993. I'd think the statute of limitations would preclude an investigation, but maybe it only precludes a conviction and/or punishment.

Alyssa Milano has stressed the importance of due process, though. This time.

Between this and primaries that are being hit by Covid 19, I think the Democratic Party should have an interesting national convention. If it goes as well as the process so far has gone, maybe they should nominate Trump and hope their luck holds true.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if it were true, we all know Biden's... "handsiness" as one article called it. But then again, it's getting tiresome that "victims" turn up years later when suddenly it gets them more fame than ever before. I could buy into that a few years ago, before #metoo and stuff, but today? My first reaction is: "Hope you get jail-time for defamation."

Maybe she learned from her last mistake? Who am I kidding. Better the alleged democrat rapist, than the alleged republican rapist, I guess...

Hey, I voted for Hillary last time. Don't you pin this crap on me. There were a LOT of negative factors that influenced the 2016 clusterfuck, from presumption and voter suppression to gerrymandering and Russians. A few political Cassandra's saw what was coming, but not enough people listened.

And you know what else? I bet if we lose this time, when it's harder because it's against an entrenched, incumbent candidate who knows everything he can get away with, you better not blame all of this failure on US. Take a long hard look in the mirror and consider just how good our party is at fucking things up.

This is why I prefer a more centrist, grounded worldview. You have an easier time getting things done that way. You can find more common ground. On any extreme end of a spectrum, at opposite sides, their views and everything they stand for become Satan. And must be destroyed.

Really I'm fine with Bernie Sanders wanting to try to go Socialism.

I guess. Though political extremism in either direction does not impress me. You become the very thing you wind up hating, what you're trying to fight, only flipped over. Politics seems to be a lot like fandom. VERY passionate people wind up getting involved, and... passions that are not tempered can lead to a bad end. I do get the general idea. In theory, we're trying to decide how the world is run, even at a very small level. In actual practice, we're just one cog in the machine. Like a drop of water in the ocean. We can subtly influence it, but we can't affect it, in the end. Not unless we all come together. And while we agree on so much, the divide between that and what we don't seems steeper than ever at times.

More Bernie supporters voted for Clinton during the 2016 election than Clinton supporters voted for Obama in the 2008 election.
The idea that Sanders supporters flipped to Trump in one of those things people say, because moderates dislike that they have a lot of problems.

Socialism... I still find that funny.
