We could blame the Spanish Flu on Kansas but we don't because, well, it's stupid. Natural disasters happen. We just get called out for how we handle them.
And yet, that happened in a totally different era.

I think in today's world, this demands an investigation. And if they could have done so back then, they should have.
An investigation into what? A disease came from China.

Are we speculating on a Bob Page-esque conspiracy to destroy the world?
It is entirely possible that it was genetically modified from the earlier version of SARS, meant to be used as a biological weapon and escaped before a cure could be made, and I say possibly. But we just don't have much substantive proof as of this moment. I lean towards not, myself, but I will, however, say better health conditions and in some instances more proper safety procedures could have possibly contained this outbreak before it began. And I want to investigate that, whether they complied with those. Because again I say possibly. We just can't say. Especially with communist leaders blaming our country, it strongly implies they have something to hide, past the usual "don't let the citizens see us as weak" government style. As if owning up to your mistakes somehow weakens you.

What will Mr. Biden and his team really give us in terms of an investigation or some kinda punitive measure there? No, I am NOT saying to invade the country, bomb their cities, or something like that. That would be counterproductive and no excuse against the civilian population. However, at best, we could expect light sanctions. And I do mean "light." As in, we are hardly going to ban travel, tourism, and economic trade. And like it or not, how much of a foul man he is personally, I'd trust Mr. 45 on China over Mr. Biden, at least on this one issue. Maybe a few others I can't recall offhand.

But I'd like some kinda punitive measure past the shrug of "oh well, these things happen" measure. An earlier investigation of and total shutdown of China would have stopped this before it hit the planet and killed millions. And they can't even take responsibility for it. It's pathetic.

I believe the People's Republic of China are engaged in genocide and are an active imperialist state. I don't believe that we're living out a discount version of Captain Trips.

I mean, it's theoretically possible but it's far far more likely that this is just another disease like Swine Flu or Bird Flu or the other things we known have been dangers for decades.

And the motivation for an investigation seems to be to want to find malice versus incompetence.

Incompetence also demands a punitive response.

My question is... if this happened here, now... what will the next time be? The third time, since SARS is an earlier virus, and this is far worse.

Charity begins at home then.

Disease outbreaks are a thing we deal with.

This is such an insane position to take.
Guys, the cost of globalism, the cost that in no way off sets the economic benefits of globalization, is that these plagues will happen.
You want cheap iphones? You get Covid.
You want metal weapons and horses? You get small pox.
You want silk? You get the black plague.

This shit has happened forever, because that is what happens.
You don't punish the other country, it is a natural disaster.

So you support me punching you for thinking that bullshit? Good, because I am tired of hearing this bullshit and it needs to stop.

Corona viruses are a highly mutative bunch that is known to jump the species-barriers easily among land-dwelling vertebrates. It is hardly surprising that new virus variants appear in conditions where humans and animals are closely interacting on a frequent basis and this isn't the first time this happened at all in human history either. Don't make a fool out of yourself.

Besides that, a bioweapon that has a small short-term lethality, is absolutely useless. And don't start argueing that the Chinese somehow want to destabilize the West, because we are still their primary source of money and technology. You don't shoot yourself in the foot, unless you are an absolute retard.

With millions dead, I would prefer knowing they're following strict health guidelines and safety procedures. Are they? Are they really?

Its an authoritarian dictatorship that has camps for large portions of its citizens. There's a shit ton wrong with China.

I'm not sure this is the place to start.

True enough. And as I'd said in the other thread, it's the same with that a-hole cop who shot some poor girl in her sleep.

It's really an imperfect world. You can want justice for that. She deserves it. We, as a civil society, do. And the same can apply here. But in all possibility, we won't get it.

My "unseemly" reaction to 45's sudden illness can best summarized as follows
Megatron: Grant me mercy, I beg of you!
Optimus Prime: You, who are without mercy, now plead for it? I thought you were made of sterner stuff!”
"Believe me, there’s nothing so terrible that someone won’t support it."
