All the worst drivers I've ever seen had NJ plates so not being able to drive wouldn't necessarily disqualify you from driving.

Pfft. New York drivers. In my book, you are not as bad PA drivers.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 2:45 am All the worst drivers I've ever seen had NJ plates so not being able to drive wouldn't necessarily disqualify you from driving.
I was driving to Philly two years ago and no shit this lady stomped on her brakes in the middle of 95S because she was about to miss her exit. The car in front of me stomped his brakes and veered to the right and I nearly rear ended the lady and if I was looking down briefly to even mess with my radio I would have slammed into her.
Or my favorite of driving out of Northeast Philly at night and occasionally see cars get on the wrong ramp onto 95 and drive INTO oncoming traffic.
I got nothing to say here.

Package handlers, no. The only 'drive' that can be is one subset of belt puller that drives a glorified golf cart from the IC belt to the appropriate van line about 60ft away pulling a train of carts.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 1:40 amTempting. Does it require driving? I don't drive.Nealithi wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 7:58 pmMoving costs I can't make suggestions. But there is a FedEx Ground hub three miles from town paying between $16/hr to $17.90/hr to start for package handlers. 24hrs/wk, more during the December holiday season. I also recommend FedEx as they have excellent healthcare. Four prescriptions filled. Total cost was $0.00ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 7:23 pm
If I can get my savings up to an amount where I feel comfortable quitting my current position (Panera, $12/hr, 24 hrs/wk) and bailing out of TN, I will. And Oaklyn will be on the short list. Maybe I should look into remote work...
Yes they have yard guys moving trailers. But those are the CDL drivers and getting the classes for the CDL is between the company and employee.

I live in a university town with a lot of international students and faculty.
The US has much less restrictive driving requirements than many other countries, and in some countries until recently women couldn't really get a driver's license at all. So they come here, and they go wild.
People who grew up driving in, say, Italy, are pretty skilled at driving in dangerous environments. (Rome is just crazy for drivers.) But the people who never drove before they came here? They're the worst.

Can't possibly have anything to do with your biases...Frustration wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 9:12 pm I live in a university town with a lot of international students and faculty.

I'd want a per-capita comparison, corrected for SES, before I'd give those statistics one whit of attention.
The very worst drivers in my town tend to be the Saudi Arabians, although not all Saudis are bad drivers.

Re: Carlson out at Fox
Total population: 331,900,000
Non-hispanic white: 57.8% so 191,838,200 | 1 in 13,512
Non-hispanic black: 12.1% so 40,159,900
Hispanic: 18.7% so 62,065,300 and
Asian: 5.9% so 19,582,100
So
1 in 13,512 Non-hispanic whites will die in a fatal car accident.
1 in 11,878 Non-hispanic blacks will die in a fatal car accident.
1 in 18,438 Hispanics will die in a fatal car accident.
1 in 67,292 Asians will die in a fatal car accident.
Once you consider the distribution of the ethnicities, these numbers become quite telling in regards to who the bad drivers are, given hispanics, blacks and asians are vastely more likely to live in a densely populated urban area, where the number of accidents can be expected to be a lot higher than in the more rural areas, primarilly settled by whites. And yet, somehow, whites are the second most likely to die in a car-crash...

Yes I believe that racial breakdown was non sequitur considering they are probably US citizens.
