I hear they were planning a spin-off for her before all of this. And of course they were - she's the first woman in live-action Star Wars since Leia whom the majority of people can actually agree is a Strong Female Protagonist. She isn't the Bechdel Test failure that is Ep 2 and 3 Amidala, or MaRey Sue, or the non-entity that is Phasma, or annoying like Rose Tico, or controversial like Holdo. Dune was just a cool, headstrong woman.

It was the opportunity of a lifetime. And she fucked all that up by talking shit and not stopping when the warning bells began to ring.

Here's my advice for y'all for what its worth: if you ever get famous, keep your mouth shut on Twitter. I cannot think of another force on Earth that has ended more careers than Twitter has. Just use it for talking about your work and nothing else.

And telling people that your basement's flooded.

Comparing herself to Jews being oppressed by the Nazi regime because people calling out on her BS for one.
Fairly run-of-the-mill rhetoric. Quite honestly reflects badly on those who get really worked up instead of just rolling their eyes at most.
Her liking tweets supporting the Capitol riots which was an act of terrorism.
That's something that's rather more relevant to the current world and hence a bit more indicitive of being a jerk.
Pushing the whole anti-mask agenda, which is likely offensive to people who caught it or lost loved ones to the pandemic.
Another issue in which people have retreated to black and white excessive extremes, so it's all too easy just to get exasperated with the lack of thought for anyone sticking their oar in.
Is that enough for you? :|
If I was thinking of voting for her, instead of just watching something she happens to be acting in, maybe.

I feel like the blurring of the line between LF firing someone and Twitter's progressive mob racketeering the biggest movie studio conglomerate in history is kinda amusing.

PS Riedquat just because you don't care doesn't mean other people can't.

It's not about caring, it's about the fact that some people can't handle people who aren't 100% in alignment with them. It's all boiled down to very simple good versus evil terms, without proportionality, without levels, without context. There are times when someone's politics reach the point where "that's enough, I've had enough," but these days that point appears to be reached the instant someone gives a hint of not being on message. And then the people you disagree with bunker down too and you end up with the over-simplified "you're all scum" from both sides. It's the level of poltics I'd expect to find in the primary school playground.

She's not getting fired because she favors deregulation or her stance on the deficit. She's getting fired for unprofessional conduct.

I mean for as far as we know, I'm pretty content with the logic here.

Calling for voting security was at most conservative noise. And I don't think Disney personally cares about pronoun sensitivity, as it's mostly just sandbox antics at Twitter, as tacky as you can come off doing what she did unironically. Given all that into account, using the particular image is decidedly vulgar.

And like TYT even agreed, like she shouldn't be fired by progressive principle necessarily, but we don't really have evidence of that happening here lol. The same thing happened with James Gunn, and it's mostly just a matter of Disney inc. treating the issue really sensitively like they always do. At this rate they might hire her back just the same.

But boy if I don't feel like this is more a case of someone being too cool for school than it is a pivotal awakening about partisan squabbling. Admittedly I'm just at a loss as far as what she perceives as conservatives being targeted specifically. Like what is she referring to by proxy, the Trump hearing?
