Not wanting to make an extra topic about it, but I felt I should quote two things I saw today.

I can't verify the McCarthy-quote right now, so take it with a grain of salt. But that is not the main thing there anyways. What is the main thing is:
Video games are not the problem. Music is not the problem. TV is not the problem. Books are not the problem. I'd take a hard guess and say: 8Chan is not the problem either, because the twats that used to radicalize themselves there, will find other forums. I'll take another hard guess and say: Something in US-society is the problem.

Though really, you tend to get the feeling that, if the GOP could pick between the second amendment and liberated media in the US, then they would gladly go with the former. In my opinion though they would not reduce it to a fundamental libertarian dilemma but just go ahead and blame the younger generation for being infected by liberated media. That way they can go about having their cake and eating it too when applying such a tautology.

It suffices if he said something that can be boiled down to the above quote. Giving people like that a platform is contributing to mass-murders in the first place, because it keeps the media on the subject of the shooting and thus giving the killer a spotlight, while also not giving a solution to the problem either. This needs to stop.

Not sure where to start but at the beginning with this.

The quote by McCarthy said Japan has no video games. It's most likely just stemming from the actual quote that "video games are causing deaths".

The graphic chart you provided questions that general statement a good deal, but it's reasonable to infer that he meant "video games in America are to blame," considering America proliferates guns more than any of those countries. And you can't say that video games aren't causing more gun deaths in Japan simply for the fact that there aren't really many guns in Japan in the first place in order to make that claim. The underlying notion being that since America is a cesspool of guns, video games serve to pervert the youth into using the vast supply of guns to shoot people. Thus get rid of the video games so that we can keep the guns.
