Heard some rumblings that the reason OnlyFans is doing this is because Mastercard has decided not to work with sites that don't have verified creator IDs and the process of individually verifying creators is so time-consuming they're deciding to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and the reason behind THAT is a right-wing Christian movement onstensably concerned about human trafficking but actually using that as a pretense to crack down on porn in general. I haven't found any articles about it though, just social media posts, so take that with a grain of salt.

That's not rumblings, that's cited as what happened. Again. This is what keeps happening to adult hosting sites. It's not new, it's a long trend of payment processors having a very complicated relationship with adult transactions.

According to wikipedia Mastercard made the decision soon after that article was released that involves the story of kidnapped minors ending up on pornhub. That is alongside the campaign of course.
