I think there's a problem here.
well, doesn't hate Trump, really. but got any suggestions of what to tell him or should his ideological opposition to some of what Republicans are for be enough? there is also one Trump policy that would effect me, his son negatively which he has already taken into consideration.

On the other hand it's generally understood that fatalities are on the rise, which is all that really matters for determination.
The problem - such as your mate on Facebook - is that people do not seem to be able to comprehend the idea that if someone with cancer catches Covid and then has their resistance to their chemo reduced as a result, then whilst TECHNICALLY it was the cancer that killed them, Covid was still a massive contributing factor to the point that it might as well have been the cause of death. And we are learning that Covid can suppress your immune system for months afterwards.
As far as the particular point being addressed. I do think that our data was gray area conclusive. Watching government responses to this thing was an orchestration of epic proportions, and the response with consideration to the data was logical imo.

At the very best from the data you have a phenomenally viral pathogen that at best finds its way to like everybody or specifically mortal victims, which is highly unlikely.

Well, you could remind him that the president would cheerfully sell him to an organ harvesting facility for one diet coke.

Or you could point out that Biden is already pretty right-leaning as far as democrats go, so if you want a Republican who doesn't drool and gibber like a homonculus from a child's nightmare he's your man.

Better yet, point out that 45 is trying to dismantle the postal office. Does your dad want his paychecks to arrive on time? Does he or any relative of his receive medication through the mail? Does he order things from Amazon? Does he send Christmas presents to friends and family in other parts of the nation? Does anyone he care about live in a rural area that FedEx and UPS consider not worth their time?

If you want him to vote For Biden, instead of just against 45, you can bring up the whole marriage equality for disabled people thing. Why should somebody lose their disability benefits just because they want to be with somebody they love?

If you want to bring up problems with 45, I don't know if your father believes in the pandemic currently blighting the nation, but there is the matter of 200,000 USA citizens dead when 45 knew about this thing back in January.

Does your father like the military? How about 45 letting Russians collect bounties on the heads of our nation's soldiers because he didn't want to offend Putin?

In the words of Captain America, I can keep this up all day.

Well, I did it. Cast my first vote ever, for the Biden/Harris ticket, and blech! I hope I'm never forced into this position again. I don't know how this will impact the results, being in a swing state, but at the same time, elections have always been decided by a tiny handful of people. So I've literally done the electoral equivalent of staring at a brick wall for an hour. Hope it's worth it to my family. Crossing my fingers.

I feel you, man. I'd offer you a drink to settle your nerves and help you forget the grim, horrible choices you've had to make if I could. Maybe settle for rewatching SFDebris's review of In the Pale Moonlight?

Captain Sisko's final epitaph seems fitting here.

I don't think ether candidate shone in those debates this morning (my time). Neither had much respect for each other, which whilst great if you want a slanging match, I doubt it inspired many fringe voters to watch Trump and Biden literally insult each other.

I can't imagine trying to keep my composure with an blithering idiot like Trump. I can't imagine any moderator being able to keep him focused and follow the rules of the debate format.

I also think it's EXTREMELY RICH that the right accuses Biden of showing poor decorum at the debate. Like, HAVE YOU EVER PAID ATTENTION TO YOUR PRESIDENT???

It was actually painful to witness.

Biden, I feel like did as well as can be reasonably expected, given that he only had two bad options: Patiently let Trump gish-gallop until his turn, and then try to get through his rebuttals while trump interrupts like a toddler every two seconds, or interrupt right back. The former making him look weak, and the later feeding into a false-equivalency narrative that appeals to people too cognitively lazy too actually examine 'both sides' and see the obvious, glaring differences.

Still, I think there are a lot of punches he could've thrown, that Trump opened himself wide for. He could've responded to the law and order shit by pointing out all the members of his campaign team in jail. He could've judo-pivoted the Ukraine thing by pointing out that that's how Trump got himself impeached. He could've directly challenged Trump to simply say the words "I Denounce White Supremacy". I feel like he was rather unprepared for the sheer speed and volume of bullshit Trump was spewing.

More than anything else, I feel great empathy for the poor moderator. They need to start turning the candidates mics off when it's not their turn to speak.
