A billion people play Grand Theft Auto.
The world should be Mad Max if that were the case.

-Walmart Takes Action to Stop Mass Gamings-
They're taking down violent posters while they still continue to sell guns.
Someone on Facebook said that's stupid because it's America's love of guns, not video games.

It is pretty stupid, because it's pandering to the lowest common denominator.
Can't say I ever found a gun I'd be interested in buying at Walmart, but I do appreciate that they help keep ammo prices lower for common stuff like .22lr.

Walmart's executives did some number crunching and have stated that they NEVER said they would stop selling games.
Apparently, someone must have pointed out that video games aren't a niche market but 120+ billion dollar industry.
Dumbasses.

Considering that video games are multi billion dollar industry and it's longer something that only small number of people buy whole "taking violent video games off shelves" that Walmart did while keeping selling guns was just empty PR stunt to please those that still blame video games from all mass shootings as diversion tactic. Like always those people do it in order to have people ignore real source of problem by using video games as scapegoat.

With my luck, my rationale is for the birds and it was all marketing. Buut, I find it at the very least a kind gesture to take down Red Dead Redemption posters in our current climate.
Of course also I saw a title that had something to do with them pulling video games as well lol, so that's a bummer.

I'm not speaking to it solving anything as far as violence.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 4:24 pmAnd this is supposed to achieve what exactly?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 2:50 pm Buut, I find it at the very least a kind gesture to take down Red Dead Redemption posters in our current climate.
It's understandable though that the regular occurrences of such events over the last 2 years have led to a shifting of sensibilities regarding potential violence in public spaces. Taking down a life-size poster of a bearded outlaw holding a double-barreled shotgun at its marketed audience, and especially just anybody walking by, is a sensible thing to do imo, despite either freedom of speech advocates or w/ever crying that Walmart "shouldn't have to" or even corporate marketing motivations.
edit: I should note that I haven't heard anything from freedom of speech people, but yeah people are getting mad hearing about this because it doesn't solve gun violence.
