The point is that it is a common trope among conservatives (though one I am partial to in the broad strokes) that with hard work and dedication you can pull yourself out of any lifestyle and become what you wish.

AOC did that. So in theory even though she is saying things they don't like she should still be praised for her accomplishments and showing that it is true. Instead her background is being used in an attempt to hold her down and discredit her. You know, the things that usually happen that liberals point to as why they feel that trope is BS. So while the liberal is proving the conservatives right, the conservatives are proving the liberals right. It's almost poetic.

I think half of them would say it's rigged but socialism won't solve it.

For the record, I am not a US citizen, so "AOC" meant nothing to me. Please be so kind to think of the USofA not being the only country in the world and at least make clear what a post or picture or abbreviation refers to. Furthermore, who the fuck is Chandler Gilliatt and what is the context of her posting this?

AOC is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of two senators for the state of New York. She holds the distinction of being the youngest senator ever elected. She's also affiliates with the Socialist Democrats party (or something to that effect). A new political movement spearheaded by Bernie Sanders out of the 2016 election. Those two facts make fear in the conservative man's eyes.

Sorry if that was a wee bit arrogant. AOC is a die-hard leftist in line with Sanders. Like him, I suspect she has no plan in place on how to pay for the things she proposes. It was Sanders' biggest flaw, and why he's become poison to political pragmatists.
