And a decent portion of the video game industry, where contract positions are a very common line of employment. They mostly do it to justify not giving their workers benefits and laying them off the second they get their work done and rotate in fresher meat.

According to the article New Jersey is one of the states that uses an ABC model and enforces it. But to me a temp agency does this all the time. The workers you send out to fill jobs cannot renegotiate, they do not have a separate business. And the labor they do is central to a temp service. But those workers don't get healthcare, vacation time or other benefits. If asked it is because they are contractors. Or has it changed since I was last a temp?

Like Jim Sterling has said many times in his videos, video game industry has gotten away from it far too much. With triple A video game companies crunch is norm with people working to make those video games are forced to work really long hours to point that they are physically and mentally exhausted while they bosses come and go way when they want. Only to possible to be let go to either make room for they replacements that then get used up or so that huge video game company that is making huge profits can make even bigger profits.

Maybe temp agencies need to up their game too, then. There was a time not so long ago when temp workers had Blue Cross healthcare.
