Afaik your car-industry is 100% reliant on mexican imports. Almost every single part is made down there. Good luck with substituting that with local non-existant production and a workforce lacking the skills. It takes years to build that capacity and skill.

The tariffs are a stupid idea that is either the result of a complete misunderstanding of reality or is yet another smokescreen diversion.
