To be fair video game industry hasn't had anything to protect people working in it from greedy CEOs and bosses that make them put making game (that most times isn't even finished because of games as live service and road map model) before everything while working unpaid extra hours so this would be good thing. Currently only video game company that seems to care about well being of it's employees is Nintendo so something clearly needs to be done to improve situation. I suspect that Jim Sterling will make video about this because he has talked about same thing before.

Best move Sanders has made in a minute, and frankly what I wish he was doing instead of running for President: going to some of the more abusive, under-regulated industries and lending his Star power and ability to draw organizers to being unionization to industries that weren’t around for the golden age of unions.

I'm not a terribly big fan of Sanders, but this seems reasonable. And honestly Game Developers are in a fairly strong position to do so if they could organize because skilled labor isn't instantly replaceable. It's also likely that if it occurred in the game industry it would start to spread to other parts of the tech industry.

Game developers aren't in the most desperate situation in the world, but they do often get the short end of the stick relative to software developers in general, at least within the larger game companies. This isn't necessarily a bad idea.

After everybody jumped ship during the GamerGate mess, the site was basically just Zero Punctuation until September of last year. Then they came under new management (Destructoid, I think) and did a major restructuring. It's a lot better now.

While I am VERY much in favor of the Games Industry finally unionizing and putting the likes of EA and Activision in their place... having SANDERS as the movement's figurehead seems... like a bad idea. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt... for now.

It was just a tweet, a shoutout. For The Escapist, though, why not write a big article about it? The moment is a chance to reflect on the way issues in the games industry are finally filtering into national awareness.

The video game industry has been a sickening pit of greed and exploitation for decades, with scumbag executives openly bragging about stuff like "turning players into payers!" and threatening employees into working hundred-hour weeks without paying overtime. Jim Sterling, AngryJoe, YongYea, and other independent journalists have been calling out this exploitative, abusive capitalist bullshit for years, and FINALLY someone's at least promising to take action!
