This makes me miss the 1000 Ways to Die series, this story would've fit in nicely with the others.

I was sort of hoping this involved an alligator somehow.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she went in there to smoke, and chucked the butt in the can, and this somehow ignited and set off the methane gas that had undoubtedly built up in there.

Of course from all places in US this happened in Florida. I used to think that Texas was butt end of US but it has turned out that's Florida.

Who knows, maybe there will be an exploding alligator story some time later. this is Florida, after all.

That seems like the most plausible explanation at this point.
