Chuck's Youtube channel is possibly going to die.

While we can all agree that coppa is a good thing, our idiots elected at the FTC are too stubborn to specify what content is kid-friendly. Yes, his art is partially animated but this is just plain evil.

The reason the alphabet agencies suck is that they are not elected and are therefore not accountable to the people for the shit that they effectively make into law.

In fairness, it has died before. That is why he moved all of his videos to the website in the first place.
The Blip years were great for everyone, viewer and creator. Thanks Disney for destroying that.

They bought it out for the player itself and the talent they could raid and then kicked everyone else to the curb

Ones that are most worried about COPPA are action figure reviewers but from what I heard even they don't have that much to worry. Based on what HoodedCobraCommander788 who is lawyer this is going to be handled by actual humans instead of some algorithm like YT usually likes to handle things with because it's not YT who handles this. But YT does have blame on this because they allowed targeted advertising in videos that are for kids.

There's a possibility that Youtube will create an algorithm since infractions reflect more on them than on content creators (the biggest thing YouTube ran afoul of is less content and more data gathering, the reason this is even showing up for users is YouTube wants to only disable the targeted advertising for kid's videos). But that would basically just be another form of content ID and, since the FTC wouldn't be involved at that point, would likely have a similar appeals process to that. Except weirder and applying to a smaller percentage of users.
Given that Chuck deals in sci-fi, almost exclusively live action sci-fi at that, the odds he'd run afoul of COPPA-compliance measures are pretty remote, and that's before considering that his actual material is voice-based commentary, which is generally not going to ping the "oh this is for kids" radar.
Now toy reviewers, whoo boy I hope they have good enough alternate revenue to just flag as "fuck it, yes, this is for kids" and eat the loss in ads.

There are the animation reviews, like Transformers or Exo Squad, or the series he's done on comics that would be in a child domain for the enthusiastic algorithm, but most of that is not on You Tube.

Long story short: Disney bought it just to close it down.
