Another day, another police beating in America

Surprised no one has started this thread yet - so I thought I would.

Cannot see how anyone can defend this one: a knee on the neck of a man who had already been rendered harmless. Police acting in self defence? Nope, doesn't apply to a knee to the neck. Even a ten-year-old knows that, if you do not want to kill someone, then you do not press your knee down on their f-king neck.

Obama is right: how are you guys letting this shit happen in 2020?

Oh, and can someone please tell Trump that when the Chinese looked as if they were going to shoot the Hong Kong Rioters he started to threaten them with how indefensible that action would be? Fast forward to 2020 and, apparently, the Don is quite happy to shoot rioting Americans.

If he loses this election I am going to call it now: telling people to drink bleach and opening fire on American citizens in the wake of a man being beaten to death by cops.

When I lived in Hawaii I came outside to see 3-4 cops pinning down a property mate in the driveway. Same kind of incident, just that they had pressed his arm behind him while he said he wasn't resisting with them disputing that. I walked up to the porch couch to see my Japanese roommate patiently watching the whole thing, and I joined in observing. I've always wondered for sure if he was actually being recalcitrant, though this guy was known on the property to distort events and exhibit himself with subtle belligerence. Really though just the idea that I couldn't really tell if he was resisting or not kinda got to me.

Do police officers not know how handcuffs work? I thought that would be part of the training.

Shooting started before the alleged looting, and these days most looting begins with plain-clothes police officers.

None of it justifies using tear gas during a respiratory disease crisis, of course. And aint it funny how all those "protesters" charging government buildings with AK47s did not get tear gassed or beaten. I wonder if there is any factor of difference between them that might explain the violence level in the police response.

Trump never told people to drink bleach. He referred to "injecting disinfectant," which, if you look at the context, pretty clearly was referring to some kind of alveolar lavage (i.e. whether a tube in the lungs could clean COVID out of the lungs using a controlled dose). He was asking about research into such things. He was not suggesting that people self-medicate.

Maybe because armed protest at the Michigan State Capitol was done in accordance with State law and they did not damage any property, just like in many, many other cases armed protestors were allowed to protest at the Capitol?

Shooting and tear gas started before the property damage.

The rigth-wing militias were also white. They intimidated Democraticlly elected law makers and the police did fuck all about it.

Be wrong to have a topic for this and not have some links to places to donate to various bail funds and the like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CjZMORRVuv-I-qo4B0YfmOTqIOa3GUS207t5iuLZmyA/mobilebasic?fbclid=IwAR07KkPPaLkM6skspmUxKyVRkZIVsYvlTVOLKxqekOGdLvf6vLSMENZt_0o

But yeah, I can't be surprised at this. Major, visible peaceful protests have been ongoing for years on end, and white america managed to toss a hissy fit about *taking a knee* instead of waking up. Between that and Trump's presidency really driving up the ol' KKK to Thin Blue Line pipeline, well, it was always real likely to happen on his watch.

I'm actually usually surprised that people respond to such matters so pessimistically. Like oh har har you're not the only lives that matter, let me go ahead and remember anything except for the social conditions that understandably reverberate across your communities.

and....... ALM is trending on Twitter.
