Forgetting the issue of whether he was reaching for a weapon, if true this shows why the police could not allow Jake Blake to get in his car, even if he were just going to drive away.

You can't let someone who has an arrest warrant for rape and who is resisting arrest after being called for violating a restraining order just drive away with kids in the car. There is too great a chance he might take his frustration out on them, or perhaps get into a high-speed chase.

And yes, this is true even if they were his kids (he did not have legal custody of them). Someone murdering his kids because of a custody dispute is too real a possibility.

So the only reasonable course of action is to shoot him 7 times in the back.

Well yeah if they only shot him five times he might have gotten away! =U

I think he does neither. I'm beginning to suspect, that he's a wierdly gone wrong experiment about a chat-bot released into the wild or someone who's high on some rather potent shrooms.
