These are the people who keep whining "so much for the tolerant left". Please note that the police, who are very good at attacking peaceful protestors in other situations, had no problem letting knife-wielding neo-nazis go about their unlawful business.

I've never been too familiar with their politics. I had a FB Friend who repped them at one point, and all I can really remember is a general disaffection with any topical progressive movements (and I presume Democrats and non Trump-compatible Republicans). There's not much in the way of actual reform that goes on in our neighborhood but we are a really consistently leftist town with maybe like 15-20% conservatives.

It's why I'm convinced Fuzzy Necromancer just comes here to start fights with people. Again, "the tolerant left," huh? Because the left is the one pushing tolerance a bit harder, that winds up more or less being "think like me!"

Not that I'm disputing this turned violent, mind you, even though righties will put their own spin on it. But they could literally turn around and bring up those protests that became violent, with the media covering for them. It's almost like... with polarization in a political cause, passions are running high and some people go wild! Gee, what a shock, huh?

Ah, but I'm sure you'll say it all boils down to "the cause." The cause of supporting a tyrant who many leftists don't want to admit even has a few redeeming qualities, over police reform, despite the bandits on your own flank who literally call for police abolition. I've seen it. How well do you think that's working out for Minneapolis now? Even Mr. Floyd's family says he wouldn't have wanted that.

Bottom line, violence is wrong whether it's their side or yours. Tolerance isn't for those you agree with, but disagree with.

In all seriousness, yeah pretty much. Let's try not to make a big thing of this here though. I agree that this is essentially no different than the violence at the protests.

But also though, "tolerant left" is recognized as a very vague incendiary pejorative by now and this is a very small contingent of people that this news article is about. Not that it's wrong to remember the irony, but I just feel that the sentiment in the OP is a bit redundant by now. Plus aren't we trying to dissolve the polar anxiety?

Then maybe the left should stop trying to aspire to tolerance ideals while either failing to understand what true tolerance is, or stop using the word to cancel debates and criticism. In the olden days, tolerance was in line with a color-blind world, "happens to be black." Treat it like an accident. Now people play the race card, and more, to cite an example, as a put-down so you don't examine them too closely. It's why the polls were wrong, it's what leads to so many box-office bombs. Leftists have a certain "has rules for thee, not for me" mentality, and I hate that.

I think it comes down to a dynamic between individual and collective treatment. On a specifically base level, each person is supposed to be treated in a characteristically equative fashion. I'm fairly certain that that's a bipartisanly consistent measure. Like inalienable human right to a trial or something, and it even dips down to public social convention as well.

But it's not that freakin hard to look at police brutality statistics and realize where colorblindness has its limits. And that WAS actually an issue as far as the right's understanding. It wasn't only a matter of collective statistics being beat over people's heads.

I just do not buy with these new definitions of assaults, for example, that tens of millions of women are silent trauma victims. That doesn't gel with human behavior if it were the case and seems really farfetched outside a war zone, and for all our problems right now, the US still is not a war zone. At least not yet.

One example of statistical failure. But then I'm not a math wiz, just a factory grunt, as I've said over and over. But my impression is with these agendas pushed, they just want you to think that. The elites running the show. On both left and right.
