Boy it is depressing to find out how big a piece of shit Joss Whedon is.

When one or two people are complaining, you can write it off as, "They did not get along" or "Well, sometimes people can be dicks" but when you have so many people who have worked with him over so many years talking about it there is clearly a problem.

In the past I would have balked at the various properties he created being handed off to different creative talents. Now I absolutely want it to happen. Please take this man's stuff away from him so that I can continue to enjoy it.

I consider Whedon's writing to be influential to me. Buffy was a show that was with me thru middle and high school, the last episode airing the week I graduated. His style of conversational writing, his work on X-Men, and his work on the Avengers' movies has affected how I write. And the fact that his behavior has been tolerated makes me feel frustrated and disappointed with him and the industry.

I'm a bit less shocked and hurt, but I understand how this saddens/disappoints a lot of people. I partly got this impression because of how he comes off in the Buffy DVD special features, and because I'd been hearing about him in other circles. It was a while before this that I concluded he's somebody who was progressive by the standards of the 90s, refused to learn or grow in any way since, and is now upset that he's not celebrated for progressive boldness anymore.

Basically, when I heard about this, I thought "yeah, that checks out."

Well, if it takes 24 years for people to tell him that they dislike is his behaviour, then what would you expect?

That is fair.

I'm kind of indifferent about all his projects that people tend to gush over. Like, every single thing. I take to his work a little more than JJ Abrams.

Yeah I understand that the film version undermines the comics a lot.
