Cuomo Resigns in Scandal

Post by Mickey_Rat15 »

Lil' Duce is out as governor of New York, for sexually harassing his staff. Though he should have been for housing Covid patients in nursing homes, causing thousands of unnecessary deaths. Though he should have been for violating constitutional norms by installing his own legislature to impose a minimum wage increase when NYS's actual legislature would not conform to his desires.

Cuomo was lauded in the press despite his arrogance, narcissism, dictatorial tendencies. Up until a month or two ago he was the ideal Democrat politician and seriously talked about as a preferred choice for President to Biden.

Good riddance, it should have happened long ago, but New York will continue to be among the worst governed states in the union as his potential successors are even more crazy.

With respect to a discrete time frame of maybe 1, 10, or 20 years, how would you say New York was governed among the worst, being of the big 3 US states?

I recall briefly, during the early days of the pandemic, his name was floated around. But that vanished as the Democrats started rallying around Biden.

I thought New York was on slippery ice with its handling of the pandemic.

I can confirm on British news that during the reign of Trump he was held up as everything that Trump wasn't.

Well BBC needs better reporters then. He was one in a crowd of Democratic contenders so packed that if it hadn't thinned out on its own the moderators would have to start yanking people off the stage with a vaudeville cane.

And then there's also the fact that Cuomo's actions have aslo taken down the leader of the #Metoo organization Time's Up for helping to smear his accusers.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... mo-scandal

"Time’s Up was set up in response to the #MeToo movement to promote gender equality. The news was first reported by the New York Times and confirmed by the organization.

Melissa DeRosa resigned after a report found governor Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women

Last week a report from the New York attorney general found Cuomo had sexually harassed 11 women, and that found Kaplan had reviewed a draft of an op-ed letter aimed at attacking Lindsey Boylan, a former aide of the governor and the first to publicly accuse him of sexual harassment. The letter was never published, but was part of a broader effort by the governor’s inner circle to discredit Boylan, the report found."

New York State's bureaucracy is sclerotic, technologically backward. Corruption is such a matter of course that the former speaker of the Assembly defended himself at trial by saying that is how things get done in the state.

As of now, the two of last three Democrat governors Andrew Cuomo and Eliot Spitzer have resigned in sex scandals and the third, Paterson, declined to run amid accusations of witness tampering, soliciting improper gifts, and making false statements; he was eventually fined for having lied under oath..
