By the Imperious Leader's Command

"It's one thing for the federal government to require its own employees to be vaccinated. But mandating vaccination for 80 million people who work in the private sector is a giant abuse of government authority. The feds should not have this power.

The strategy for enacting the mandate is authoritarian and anti-democratic. Congress has not passed a law explicitly giving the executive branch the power to implement a private vaccine mandate. The executive branch is simply deciding that it already possesses this power. If OSHA can require vaccination under its existing authority, there is little limit to what the agency can do."

Given that one of the major groups of unvaccinated are black Americans, it would seem that this will have a disparate impact on that community, so is this an example of systemic racisim?

I said it in another thread. Funny how the lefties would hate it for reasons of "national security," but put the words "public health crisis" and "backed up by science" onto it, and suddenly they're jumping all over it, aren't they? God, when did the left embrace EVERYTHING they hated under Bush? You know, eugenics was "backed up by science" once too, a thoroughly discredited field. And guess who supported THAT flawed ideology? Yeah. Some of the worst crimes in the early and mid-20th century. Really, I'm not blaming average, everyday people gullible enough to fall for the lies, ones they had been told as children over and over, or who were being brainwashed by the state. I'm blaming the crooked politicians and evil agenda-pushers who conned them into THINKING that way. When they knew better. God, what the fuck is happening to this planet...

I actually got my shots, but the idea of FORCING the vaccine onto 80 million people is fuckin' scary, you know?

If the left can NEVER have enough of a damned fuckin' reckoning to come to understand where the right's distrust in science AS AN INSTITUTION, not as a philosophy, has broken down, as I've come to in the past year, to see where the flaws are we need to address, because everyone admits and knows science is not infallible and needs time to work, that even the best, centuries-old science is prone to being proven wrong and SHOULD be, then we're going to keep fighting for a LONG TIME. Where does it end? Congratulations on doing everything the DNC wants you to. Hate-voting is really all that keeps them going as they sow division in their own base the way the GOP does. It's just appalling.

They embraced it under Wilson's War Socialism and Roosevelt's New Deal. They have embraced the Strong Man for the past century, as long it was their Strong Man.

I can't comment on that.

You know, I have a wonderful Communist friend in Peru. He's got a unique perspective, because he has none of our biases and flaws as Americans. We tend to get too locked into our viewpoints as a species. And I find the real difference is in the interpretation and the labels we put onto things. Sometimes that gets in the way more than anything in determining how to respond to anything. It's just bewildering. We all agree the corporations need more competition, right? That breeds innovation. Left AND right agree. 99.99% of people will say the same thing. But right libertarians say capitalism already does that. The hardcore left says capitalism does not do that and inevitably never does. I don't know who to believe. I'm just gonna stay true to WHO I AM. I hate labels. They just encourage more division. Funny how in today's world, we have MORE labels than EVER, than at any point in human history. A coincidence? Hmmmmm...

But yeah, the same way I said the right aren't some monsters, neither is my Communist friend. He's a great guy. But wow, it's just so unbelievable how... UGH. Fuckin' hate the political tribes we have now...

Or maybe they should have bothered to go and get their free vaccine whilst they could?

The right's distrust of science is something that the right has deliberately fostered. They have done this largely for monetary gain as distrust in science combined with trust in right wing authority figures is needed for thier base to continue to vote for economic policies that actively hurt them.
