BTW, have you noticed that this only ever goes one way? Transmen aren't complaining that they cannot have sex with men, transmen aren't complaining that they cannot use men's prisons. It really does seem to be a transwoman problem. Its almost as if it takes more than a pronoun change to get rid of misogyny.

Not to be pedantic but there's a massive history of men who get violent when they discover that a woman they're attracted to or have been attracted to turns out to have been a pre-op (or post-op) transwoman.

Fuck there was even an episode of Nip/Tuck where the otherwise likable son of a main character committed a horrifying hate crime over it.

To be more explicit, the BBC included among their interviewees a self-admitted serial rapist. The BBC is clearly not doing any due diligence to investigate or confirm the claims of the people making these accusations, and treating them as a serious news source in this matter is buffoonish.

Second, Nip/Tuck is fiction, and not very good fiction at that.

That's a rather reductive takeaway imo. It's like me telling you "I can't believe it's come to the point that just because I'm breathing air you're posting that analogy."

A couple outright lies the writer and editor just let past. "No research on trans sexuality but most trans women are only into women" is the most blatant. Nobody at any point in the production of the article googled it. Hell until pretty recently trans women couldn't even get treatment or legally transition in a lot of places unless they were only into dudes.

Nice little dodge on why they were citing the LGB alliance too. "They've been widely called a hate group for reasons the author won't bother to explain because it derails the whole narrative but they say they aren't so we'll just believe them and take everything they say at face value".

Social media is a garbage fire, online dating is too, genital preference is A Thing. Duh. Other than that I don't think the article is worth the paper it's printed on.

Essentially transphobia and people's bad reaction to potential partners being trans is nothing remotely new nor is the fact that women are having a bad reaction to transmen anything particularly noteworthy since men have been having bad reactions for decades. I think it's preferable to use fictional examples when discussing these sorts of topics on a fantasy board because otherwise it's gross and exploitative. Besides, we're discussing the emotions and actions taken from them versus the actual events of RL that we can't have a 100% insight into. Hence fiction being much more useful than RL.

First, what does that have to do with the topic?

Well for one the idea that trans women are some kind of unique threat to women is dramatically undermined by a cis woman who is also a serial rapist. Notably she has in fact assaulted other women in the bathroom.

Second because the article hides the fact that she's a rapist, it's basically letting her project what she does on to trans women.

It's also a terrible article because it's a poll of 80 people on boards built around trans phobia.
