So yeah, people are responding to the war by attacking Russian restaurants. We learn nothing.

Honestly I am not really worried about a handful of people doing stupid shit. I become worried when it becomes a national.

Not national, but there’s some other truly astounding Freedom Fries 2.0 dipshittery going on. Like renaming a space conference to not honor Yuri Gagarin

What is it with nutjobs attacking innocent people who had nothing to do with an incident, just last year there was a rise of anti-Asian hate crimes because of the pandemic and now this.

SImplified "them and us" thinking. Ironically enough the type of thinking that seems to have infested large swathes of Russia, right up to the top, generating paranoid delusions that lead to this mess.

Given the very reasonable assumption that a particular trait is distributed in a bell curve, half the population will be at or below the average. There will usually be a small fraction of the population at the 'tails', or far ends.

People usually bring this up in terms of IQ, which we can quantitatively measure, but it applies to traits that are harder to rigorously define, like "good sense".

There are going to be exceptionally foolish people who generalize their emotional responses to a degree that would make a two-year-old blush in shame. These are their stories...

That seems rather non-sequiter to what I said.

I'm honestly surprised by this. The Americans you expect this kind of thing from (aka the ones who were going after anyone who looked Asian two years ago) are the ones who are openly backing Putin.
