America. I love you most of the time. But it really needs to be said that children being shot in schools isn't a common problem in the rest of the world and yet you've had 27 incidents this year. Serious question: how many more dead children will it take exactly before you take action? A hundred? Five hundred? A thousand? How many more times do we need to hear the same old story?

Well I'm inclined to believe them when they say "from my cold dead hands", so the question isn't "How many children", but "How many gun owners"

When you say serious, do you mean rhetorical? Because that's what that is.

Where I live "how many gun owners" is close to "everybody", regardless of politics gender etc. It's about as common as driving a car. This is in a blue state with some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

If you believe surveys, nationally it's about 1 in 3.

Well, maybe "how many NRA members" would be more accurate. The people who are pushing for minimal gun control aren't the ones who are bearing the costs of minimal gun control. Things won't really change until the ones doing pushing stop or they cease to have the ability to push back. The second seems improbable with the centralness of the gun in US culture and the first would only really happen if the costs of minimal gun control (i.e. gun violence) begins to affect the pro-gun activists.

No, they'd take it as an excuse to buy MORE guns.

It can have strict laws but are they actually enforced?

Oh gods no. They're openly not enforced in most of the state. Plus anything but a pistol you can just ignore it by going over the border.

I only brought it up to highlight that this isn't an unusually gun-dense area.

Gun control laws wouldn't matter. School shootings go back to the earliest days of America. When you're dealing with one-room schoolhouses, much smaller communities, and a complete lack of instant worldwide communication, it just didn't enter the public consciousness the way it does now.

Serious question: when will people learn to not offer critiques of the cultures of foreign countries they've neither visited nor understand?

Apparently, people are spreading misinformation about the shooter, claiming the culprit was transgender. Among those people are Candance Owens.
