US's Immigration Policy

Someone explain to me why the US just doesn't open up the borders and have immigration facilities where they assign SSN and all the info needed to be American citizens?
You are adding to the population, people who want to be in the country. More money from taxes. You would think that alone would make politicians happy.
Illegals who have kids born in the US or those with the very young, will have the kids go through public schools. They will learn English and whatever native language their parents are.
Create 60 day camps where they are fed and housed and they are found work. I live in an area of illegal immigrants who are not harassed unless they do something against the law.
The thing is where I live there is a policy of no one will bother illegals unless they commit something against the law. From what I have seen at least 90% find work. Landscaping, cleaning, sheet rock, painting, bus boys, dishwasher, farming. Etc.
I just don't get the immigration policy of the US.

Xenophobia and greed. Honestly, that's the answer to MOST of our problems. They'd lose all of the cheap, easily manipulated, labor if they actually let them become US citizens with full rights. Of course, now they're just trying to get rid of the rights for nearly everyone, so...

I could be wrong but maybe trying to keep them out isn't working.

That's the right wing agenda.
Their constitution would theoretically be closer to the likes of: "we need to have a proficient screening system to determine who is allowed into the country." Also note that I do not follow this agenda or echo its treatment of this as a primary facet of immigration structuring through fluid administration adoption of such agencies.
I was only trying to reflect on the historical fact that the US has, both by sheer volume of migrants and by proportion of population admitted, the largest and most varied account of foreign immigration of any country since around the 20th century.

The answer is that a large chunk of America doesn't want any immigration and would like to send large chunks of its immigrants and refugees "back."
This is nothing new and Herbert Hoover, piece of shit that he was, actually had mass kidnappings that he claimed was deportations.
A huge chunk of the issues with immigration in the USA is to make it as difficult if not impossible as possible.

It's white supremacy mostly, it's no coincidence that the first ever immigration law in the US was the Chinese exclusion act.

Why in the world would we just open up our borders?
Can you name ANY nation where people wanting to join just do so without limit or restraint by the nation?

The US until about 1880.
The UK until about 1905.

Even the US had rules about becoming a citizen, although it didn't care so much about accepting new colonists.
