There is no clear motive but obviously the fatwa against him is considered the most probable cause at the moment.

As a Muslim, it's so depressing and infuriating seeing so many Muslims on social media celebrating the attack. This despicable attack will only reinforce nasty stereotypes anti-Muslim bigots push about us Muslims.
What many of those morons who are celebrating this don’t realize is that Mohammad (PBUH) endured far worse during his lifetime. He was insulted, mocked, and had attempts on his life by his enemies.

Is it a stereotype though? I mean, sure there are a lot of civil Muslims around who won't bother anyone for disagreeing with their views, but then there are a whole lot of Muslims around who do. It's like moking Christians for their kiddy-fiddling priests. It's widespread enough and often gets covered up by the religious authorities in various ways, to make it a systematic trait, rather than a stereotype...

A stereotype you believe is still a stereotype.

Like Chuck once said, ''its not a stereotype if they keep on fucking doing it.''

If it means people think this applies to "all Muslims" then yes it's a stereotype because not all Muslims are like that.

I start to see an objection along the lines that he was referring to, though I side with you in that it does influence the stereotype. He is right with regard to the aspect particularly that it is something that has gone on for a long time. It's nothing new, and not going to be very influential to the increased perception of Islamic culture.

All stereotypes have a basis in fact even if they do not apply to all people because stereotypes only become stereotypes after a certain trait is noticed and then continuously repeated.
White boys who cannot get laid do not always become school shooters. Most don't in fact. But that doesn't change the fact that almost every school shooter we've ever had is a white boy who cannot get laid and thus a stereotype is born.
Not all men are violent. Most aren't in fact. That doesn't change the fact that if you are going to get murdered, raped or beaten up, chances are, its going to be a man and thus a stereotype is born.
Not all Muslims are terrorists. Most aren't in fact. But that doesn't change the fact that if you are going to be murdered for religious reasons in 2022, chances are, its going to be a Muslim doing it and thus a stereotype is born.
Do you see how this works?

I don't know the UK numbers, but if you're murdered in the US for religious reasons it's most likely a Christian. We've got violent Dominionists coming out of our ears over here.

Yeah, when was the last time the ISLAMIC terrorists pulled anything on US soil? Could be a lack of media coverage, but I'm drawing a blank.
