The greatest woman in history has passed. God save the Queen.

Well, an era reaches it's end, that much is true. I very much disagree, that she was the greatest woman in history though, vehemently so. Her own same-named ancestress has left a lot bigger mark on history for example, not to even think about women like Sappho, Ada Lovelace, Hedy Lamarr, Theodora and so many, many more.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:35 pm The greatest woman in history has passed. Maybe. But what you have to understand is that Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is Britain. She is to us what Abe Lincoln, the Constitution and July the 4th is to the US. She is red telephone boxes, black taxis, Winston Churchill, Waterloo, the Spitfire.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:59 pmWell, an era reaches it's end, that much is true. Still, condolences for loosing such an iconic person.
See I don't feel she actually did much to shape any of these events. From my perspective, she was just along for the ride like basically everyone else, while being glorified to high heavens for waving at people.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 7:13 pm Maybe. And in these decades of huge change she was the constant. WW2, the fall of Empire, Cold War, Falklands, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the beginning and end of EU membership. She saw 15 prime ministers and 13 presidents. It is like losing a bit of Britain.
You can objectively measure out other women as being her equal perhaps, but in modern times? I'm not so sure.
Greatest current female political figure, sure. Greatest in history? *raises eyebrow*clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:35 pm The greatest woman in history has passed. God save the Queen.
Well, Elizabeth murdered countless Catholics for no reason, party to piracy, and helped the slave trade.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:59 pmWell, an era reaches it's end, that much is true.
