He's also getting the ball rolling on descheduling cannabis and has urged governors to follower his lead with pardons for state offenses.

As he should.
I should state that I cant do any drugs of any kind. Mandated by the FAA.
But I have supported legalizing Mary Jane and her Whacky Tobacky. To a limit of course. I do feel there definitely should be some field test the police can do if they feel the driver is high.

Other than the breathalyzer itself can't they just use the standard sobriety test? Walk in a line while reciting the alphabet backwards, that kind of thing?

Glancing at the field sobriety test, I would have difficulty with two of the steps stone sober.

And the 'Signs of intoxication' My entire family hits five of seven just waking up. We forget words, get talkative when anxious, walk into a room and forget why we did, generally tired, and all of us have different walking issues. My parents call it getting old.
So I think they need a field sobriety test that has less false positives.

Not so much old age, in my opinion. Outside of talking a lot when being anxious, which is something a lot of people do by nature, I'd call it signs of potential prolonged sleep-deprivation and lack of irregular mental stimulation. Both tend to be an integral part of "being an adult" and thus, by consequence, "because getting old". But just because you're older doesn't mean you get above mentioned symptoms. Correlation doesn't mean causation.

I'm surprised I didn't get a citation for impaired driving when I hit a deer a few months ago if those are the standards, I was so flustered talking to the cops I hit four of those.
And yes I was sober.

I'd hope they'd be used to people being a bit flustered when something like that happens, and able to tell the difference between that and being off your head (hope isn't the same as expectation though).

I had a DUI. Blew a 0.09. Basically having two beers at dinner was enough. Anyway I failed my field sobriety test because according to the officer I 'sung' my ABCs.
Which I didn't because I made sure to pause between each letter. But he felt I did sing. So these tests are basically an opinion from the officer on whether or not you are impaired.
I didn't get pulled over. I had to pass through the main gate on NAS Oceana. So it wasn't like I was doing donuts on the highway.

Probably. But his boredom cost me alot of money and I had to go to AA and NA along with a 12 week alcohol awareness class. All because it was done on Federal property.
I thought I could fight it. Get it reduced somehow. Got a lawyer and whatever a apprentice lawyer would be called. It happened a year after they lowered the legal limit from 0.10 too. Nope you can't fight it. Judges a tually have little power to change something like a DUI once it's on paper.
At least the Navy brushed it under the rug. All I had to do was stand watch eight hours on, eight hours off. Just for that weekend. I read the Star Trek Destiny novels. Good thing those novels were really good.
