What exactly is the logic for having chess be gender-segregated in the first place? Wrist strength?

Wrist strength?
Yeah, it makes no sense at all as far as I can see.

Stripping trans men of their titles especially just seems petty.

Men having a tantrum when they lose to a girl. That's it.

From The Guardian:

''For a long time chess was a predominantly male activity and players achieved ratings by playing in all male tournaments. When women started to play they were at a much lower level and so all female tournaments started to get organised, which resulted in women achieving 'female' ratings.''

In other words, it was to help women due to the fact that they didn't have a hope in hell of beating the men at that time. And for what's it worth, only high-level ''elite'' chess is segregated. Open tournaments make up the bulk of competitive chess.

I have no idea why the rule still exists in 2023 though. Gender segregating a sport with no physical component makes no sense. I certainly do not agree with stripping titles.

No physical component? I disagree. You see, the male opponent is only allowed to move one tile into every direction, while the female counterpart is allowed to move any amount of tiles in every direction. That's quite a competative advantage...

Ahh yes the most powerful of them all.
