Wanna register to vote? Well, you'll need a passport or birth certificate, which a great many citizens do not have.
They don't want to lose another election so they want to make sure most of us just can't vote.

I have neither. Passport expired back in 2017 and is now lost. Can't find any copy of my birth certificate and looks like I may have to spend a day in Trenton since my efforts online is going nowhere. I mean if I ever get a new copy, I am making 20 copies all of which will be noterized.
Can't imagine how hard it could be for others.

I got nothing to say here.

Ah, even more incentive to get my passport issued, ASAP.
I wish I had some startup capital, I'd set up a non-profit that helps people get their paperwork together and bust through these roadblock.
Yeah, it'd just be treat the symptoms, but it'd be better than nothing.

The thing is passports are useful for identifying who you are. But they are only required if you want to leave the US. Not everyone has one for whatever reason.
So basically it's stating that by law you should have one if you want to do American stuff. Like vote.
Fine. Pull that crap. How many deep South Trumpers have a passport? Alot of them either can't afford to leave the US or don't want to.
I remember back in when I was in the Navy talking to a handful of a deep South fellow sailors who basically stated they had no interest going out the US. Their argument was like 'what over there do I need to see that I can't see here?'.

I don't have a passport because I can get into Canada with my driver's license anyway.

That can change literally over night. Besides, what do you do if Canada rejects your request to stay there, if push comes to shove? Back to the US? Because without a passport....hammerofglass wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 5:27 am I don't have a passport because I can get into Canada with my driver's license anyway.

I have "murdered by the government" penciled in for sometime in the next six months. Bit beyond caring at this point.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:06 amThat can change literally over night. Doubtful. Forced Labour is more useful to the State. Your country's prison industry is already waiting for new slaves.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 11:53 amI have "murdered by the government" penciled in for sometime in the next six months. Hm... Meant to write that as a fecitious joke, but reading it again, the laugh didn't even come over my lips... I'll leave it there regardless... I'm so sorry for what is going to happen in the States...

From what I'm hearing about what's happening to trans women in Florida prisons which is soon going to be the national model I'll just take the bullets.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 3:04 pmDoubtful. I'm not from the USA so my perception may well be skewed, but it's that this'll lose Trump more votes than it will Democrats. I'm sure I recall hearing somewhere that they're more likely to have a passport anyway.
