Ideas for Islands at Hypothetical Walt Disney World Seas

Post by Winter »

Tying into the previous post I made in regards to the rumored 5th WDW theme park which was rumored to be WDW's own DisneySea part of the rumor I didn't mention was that this would be the biggest park in Disney's History, covering about 600 acres making it bigger then Disney's Animal Kingdom which is about 580 acres.

Now in regards to the actual DisneySea the park is about 121 acres (which it hides VERY well I might add) and consists of the following "Islands"

Mediterranean Harbor
Mysterious Island
Mermaid Lagoon
Arabian Coast
Lost River Delta
Port Discovery
American Waterfront
Fantasy Springs (Coming later this year)

Now I would expect Disney to incorporate most if not all of these islands but if this rumor is true and Disney does intend to make this the biggest park in Disney history then it stands to reason that more islands would be added. I already suggested alternate versions of the established islands such as re-imaging American Waterfront into a MCU area based on Marvel's version of New York.

However, I got to thinking, why only use Disney IPs as Mysterious Island could also be called Jules Verne's Island since the two major attractions of said island are based on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth but if we're talking about expanding it why stop at just those two rides such as Around the World in 80 Days or From the Earth to the Moon by incorporating elements from like Soarin for the former.

I've already mentioned include a Kumandra Island in the previous post as I think it's a very underrated world and film as well as the Encanto from Encanto due to the film being well loved.

But here's a real interesting idea maybe include a island with theming around one of the worlds most famous writers that are known and quoted by EVERYONE that is in the public domain so Disney can use it without to their hearts content. The Island of Prospero aka Shakespeare Island with attractions based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Macbeth and, of course, The Tempest.

These are among the Bard's most popular plays and would be the easiest to make family friendly (yes even Macbeth, I mean there's literally a Haunted Mansion in EVERY Disneyland Park and a ride about Pirates so a bloodbath like Macbeth wouldn't be to out of place). The Tempest is my favorite play by Shakespeare and it would be great to see it in a Disney Park and Disney could even include elements from Gargoyles given how much of Shakespeare is tied into the lore of that show.

As mentioned before I think including a DisneySea in WDW would be a park that would be Universally Welcome by fans and adding more elements that are unique to the WDW version would likewise be well received by fans and causal park goers.

But what about you, what Islands would you want to see in a WDW DisneySea?

If Defunctland is to be believed the designers have been trying to do a Jules Verne themed area for decades but the projects keep getting scrapped.

Moana would be rather hard, actually as her setting is the sea itself not an island or a world heavily associated with water. However, I could to see her as the mascot of the park given her main thing is exploring the world or include a new island based on Hawaii which includes Moana along with Lilo and Stitch.
