I'm aware there were random bits of high tech in the original show compared to the rest of the setting which was why I specified societal tech level. Going from historical Asia to roaring 20's New York is still one hell of a jump in terms of what future stories you can tell.
Course it doesn't matter if they weren't looking to tell more stories and it worked for Korra as an individual entry. Asami with her electrical power fist especially.

I would have liked to see a show focusing on non-avatar heroes when Korra and company are in their fifties and have to be the Adults, like Tenzin and his generation were in LoK. Which if LoK was the roaring twenties would put them right smack in the moon landing era.
