Then why not do what ST-TOS did and release a special edition. Just redo all the CGI shots but leave everything else. Personally I think the CGI in the show aged pretty well, a little stylized but it works a lot better then a lot of other 90's CGI.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 5:34 pmWe all do. But you are right the studio whoever that may be (CW) probably wants a fresh series. And if that is how JMS gets his B5 back on the air then so be it.phantom000 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 4:49 pmI don't want a reboot I want a follow up! Like the live action Avatar series, I don't want to see a studio try to rehash the story I want to see what comes next!
It would interesting if he could do this all over again but with better SFX. Curious how he would do it.

Cost versus what they get back in return. I have suspected if the Star Trek Remastered series was far more successful we would may have gotten a remastered B5 series.phantom000 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 5:37 pmThen why not do what ST-TOS did and release a special edition. Also, while the fixing of some of the TOS SFX was acceptable, the CGI model of the Enterprise isn't that good. Wasn't even that good when it came out. So for a B5 remastered series with new CGI models to work, those CGI models would have to be impressive to get attention.
Lastly, how many new fans would this attract anyway on old content versus making something new?
I got nothing to say here.

Re: Babylon 5 The Road Home
They've technically already re-released B5 with improved effects, because they lost some of the special effects for the fourth season. They had to make do with high-quality copies a fan had made of the original broadcast because the original files had been lost.

Interesting. For what? DVD release? I guess there wouldn't be a side by side comparison?Frustration wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 11:17 pm They've technically already re-released B5 with improved effects, because they lost some of the special effects for the fourth season. Not that someone spending their time for a few months on commercial grade CGI products couldn't do nowadays. I have seen some scene reconstructions for Star Trek that is very impressive.
Still waiting on someone replacing the D-12 Bop with a Vorcha in Generations.
I got nothing to say here.

Watched it last night.
Basically it's a movie of B5's greatest hits, or time periods. Jumping to the alternate universe of B4 where B5 got attacked by the Shadows, forward in time after Sheridan's death, back in time visiting that far his family has, a time when the Shadows won and the Vorlons are sore losers.
It ends though instead of our Prime timeline it's a timeline where there was no Shadow war, Delenn is still full Minbari, both Lockley and Sinclair are on the station but that could just be a cameo of sorts. G'Kar and Londo seem to be on somewhat friendly terms.
Makes me wonder why they ended it like that. Like is it the start of a different Babylon 5?
Anyway, so they redid designed the Shadow Battle crab, you can actually see the details on it. You can see more of the Shadows themselves. I think they also modified Babylon 5 itself as the non-moving spine has extra stuff on it. I may need to do a side by side comparison. You see more of the interior especially the reactor room.
Voice acting. With so many of the original cast gone, obviously they had to bring in someone to fill in. G'Kar was the only one way way way off. Everyone else sounded as close as possible with Delenn possibly the second worse imitation. I guess the accent was hard to duplicate as well as Furlan's style of speech.
Overall good it's not bad. They probably could do better with the animation making some of the characters more pronounced in their look. Story like I said is Sheridan going to different points in time, some discussion of nature of the universe (B5 style).
I wouldn't mind a second movie in animation tbh. Though I doubt they could truly do a whole series in animation.
Go watch it, support it if you like Babylon 5. Positive support for this would go a long way to getting more. Even if you are going to nitpick the hell out of it. Find every single negative thing about it.

Re: Babylon 5 The Road Home
I'm not really interested. It's yet another elseworld-story, which doesn't progress the setting or add to it in a significant way (in fact, it adds the multiverse-concept to Babylon 5...). I very much dislike this trend in story-telling.

Same. Like many things in genre storytelling, overuse reduces its effectiveness.
