Stargate SG-1: The Nox

Post by Kendrakirai »

I've been rewatching the show from the start, and I just finished watching this episode. MAN I can't wait until Chuck reviews it, because I gotta say....I am NOT a fan of this episode, or the Nox in general. Pacifism like that only works if you're so powerful that there's no way your enemy can harm you - and even then, they're going to KEEP TRYING to harm you until they ARE capable of it. AND it ignores the plight of the untold billions of people who you could be saving from the kind of evil the Goa'uld perpetrate across the galaxy.

At least the Asgard have agreements in place against the Goa'uld.

Man, and even the way they talk to SG-1, like they're toddlers, it's infuriating. Do not like the Nox.

I ALWAYS HATED THE NOX! "Oh we're so pacifist and peaceful, stop being so warlike humanity, yeah we invented farts that cure cancer and are gods, why can't you just be gods too you stupid humans. You suck. Oh, Apophis wants to wipe out all humans? WHO GIVES A FUCK, PEACE IS ALL WE WANT AND GENOCIDE IS OKAY WITH US IF WE'RE FINE!"

Right?? They're like the season 1 and 2 TNG Federation but even more smug and self-satisfied.

Or Enterprise-era Vulcans.

They disappeared from the show middle of season three, so you can headcanon that the Replicators ate them if so inclined.

Honestly I always did like the idea they WERE wiped out. Preferably by Anubis.

Straw pacifists are just as annoying as the straw skeptic/straw Vulcan.

I didn't particularly care for the design of the Nox either. I assume the Nox went the way of the Tollan.

I'm reminded of those extremist to the point of insanity pacifist aliens from Clone Wars which was bordering on get them early support the military propaganda given that show was firmly targeted at kids.

Their technology is focused around hiding and healing. They are probably just fine, they just got on their big ship (which looks a lot like Atlantis tbh) and flew off somewhere else. Of course that makes them even more of a bunch of assholes that they had their own friggin' Atlantis and just stood by all this time. Actually thinking about this, if the Nox moved planets then the only people ever shown to be able to contact them was the Tollan with that beam of light they fire into the air. Maybe with the Tollan dead the Earth can no longer find them.

Complete waste of a perfectly good Aron Shimmerman. I'm with everyone else on this, screw the damn Nox.
