TBH, that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread and really the only lasting notable thing about the episode: Armin.

I just assumed that Anubis sent some modified ships that can detect them and bombed them as a warning not to interfere. Nox then went further into isolation.

I thought the female one that we saw a few times was very cute.

The Nox remind me of Chuck's quote from Star Trek Insurrection about the Ba'ku that went something like, ''you know who they are? they're elves. We have great gifts, live forever, and are white. We're just all round better than you are in every conceivable way.''

I don't know. I think the concept of a purely pacifist alien with obvious powerful technology just runs against our human nature. Think about it. They are supposed to be alien despite being basically fairy like humans. Maybe that is their nature by default. That for example their weapons technology is woefully deficient compared to their technological status as a member of the original Fourth Race.

That our concept of fighting the Gou'ld for the rest of humanity sake is just purely against their nature.

That's the way I look at it. But again I kinda feel like they got warned by Anubis not to interfere.

The Nox would probably be less annoying if they weren't human looking. If they looked like something that evolved as a prey species we wouldn't even question them having the attitudes they do.

I assume the Nox fulfilled the function of being white mages for the Alliance. Fat lot of good they did against the Ori plague when it was ravaging the galaxy the first time around though. It was pretty easily cured by season 10 too, so easy in fact that humans could do it with just a bit of ascended Ancient knowledge. You would think that the wonder elves who can reverse death would have been able to do something.

As an aside, that plague that wiped out the Ancients... it cannot be strictly called Early Instalment Weirdness because it never gets retconned or anything, but I REALLY think given the technology and superpowers we see the Alliance possessing later on that they should have been able to cure it. I think that's why the Ancient's backstory went from ''wiped out by a plague'' to ''wiped out by a plague whilst simultaneously becoming gods with a Prime Directive.'' Seriously, if we want to talk about assholes, the Nox learned from the best. At least the Nox haven't littered their crap across two galaxies including several doomsday weapons.

While the Ancients were dick supremes, at least they're HONEST and not preachy about it like the Nox. Really the Asgard come off weird for hanging with dicks, dicks, and Furlings who sounded nice but shame the SG1 gang blew them up in like, off screen season 2 (yes I like to pretend that joke is canon). It is genuinely funny to me given the Asgard are one of the nicest and best aliens in Sci-Fi, and yet they treat the Ancients as friends when the Ancients, frankly, sucked. It's like learning that youth preacher everyone likes who is a swell dude is friends with a crack dealer.

Asgards also seem to be much more milteristic compared to the Ancients. I suppose them fighting the Replicators forced them to create new more powerful weapons but still.

I think also the Nox along with the Tollan were created to basically say the Tauri are still 'young'.

Kinda curious how the Nox would have reacted to a Prior visiting their world. Wonder if the Prior would have had the technology or power to see past the Nox cloaking tech. Also wonder what orders the Priors had if they encountered someone like the Nox. Would their plague powers work? Would they try to do something like blow up the Stargate? Would the Nox do a literal handwave and neutralize the Prior?

Would be interesting if the Nox just demoted the Prior back to a regular human.
