Just finished replaying Spider-Man 2 (PS5) and on the whole I do think it's a great game but it does have a few issues that hold it back IMO (the third act is rushed, it needlessly killed characters off-screen and still suffers from poor side quest tie-in missions though not nearly as bad as the first game). But one thing stood out to me that I don't see anyone talking about, Peter has a way to save Harry from dying that has, as far as we know, no side effects. Just give Harry the Anti-Venom Symbiote.
It's stated in the game that the AVS gives Peter all the benefits of having a symbiote with none of the draw backs. It keeps his mind unaltered and keeps him out of the Symbiote Hivemind while retaining the extra strength and I assume the healing factor he had while bounded with with the Venom Symbiote.
So, why not just give this suit to Harry and save his best friend. I know the reason out of universe is because of gameplay purposes, they couldn't just cut players off from using this ability after they spent over 20 hours upgrading these abilities but it's never brought up in-universe at any point. I willing to put that aside for now because it could be addressed in a sequel but what will the reason be?
My guess is the option is brought up and Pete tries to do just that but because Harry was bonded to Venom for so long that the AVS will just end up hurting him even more. It's then realized the one way this could work is to use Mr. Negative's powers but he lost his powers when he saved Peter in SM2 from the Symbiote's second attempts to take control of him. Peter does have the power to give up the symbiote without it harming him and is willing to do so BUT there's no way to give it to Harry without killing him.

He could have just said no, it doesn't matter the incarnation Harry like Pete isn't known for making GOOD life choices.
