While SSKTJL ended up undoing the one thing it set out to do, aka kill the Justice League, rending this entire game pointless for the 5 people it was made for (and even they didn't like it when it first came out) I have to wonder what the fallout of this game will be.
While the league is, mostly, back at the end of the day things have changed. The Joker has returned, the Leagues reputation is in tatters, Metropolis is in ruins and hundreds of people are dead. Wonder Woman is still dead, Deadshot's daughter is now a Supervillain, Ivy is back, Mrs. Freeze is now trapped in this universe trying to save her wife and the Suicide Squad is now loose and freed from Waller.
Now the most likely answer to how this game is going to handle this fallout of this game is... it won't. It's clear that no one wants to deal with this mess, no one wants to remember this game, we all just want to move on and forget it ever happened. So it's very likely that the next game will either have a massive Time Skip (likely making a Batman Beyond game) or have a throwaway line that explains it was set in an alternate universe and therefore isn't canon or just flat out ignore it.
And... I get it, if I was hired to write a game set after SSKTJL I would sigh as addressing would not be fun. But I am someone who often thinks of re-writing stories and if the option was given to me I would take the time to build on the fallout of this game.
First thing I would do is find a way to bring Wonder Woman back, yes this would be undoing the only death that seemed to stick in the game but it's a bad idea and should be undone. In fact that would likely be a whole game in and of itself that would involve the entire Justice League in a Search for Spock kind of story as we see what the League is willing to go through to find and bring back their friend because she would do the same for them and in fact tried to.
It would also be a great move to have a Kirk and Spock moment at the end seeing that Evil Clone Sups was the one to kill Diana so it makes sense to have him be the one to let her know that everything is okay and her friends are alright.
It would also be great to see some of the cast from the SS game helping out the league, most notably Mrs. Freeze and King Shark. Not the rest of the cast though, 2 characters from this game is already enough.
As for what kind of game maybe something like Injustice, a simple fighter game where we play as several characters, villains and heroes alike as we go on this quest with Diana being the last character we play as. We could call it, Justice League: Return of Wonder... Yeah I'm shit at naming things I need like a month or more to come up with a good title, but something like this, both to emphasis the return of Wonder Woman and the return of the adventure and, well, wonder of Superheroes and the Justice League.
But yeah while I will fully understand DC and Rocksteady just wanting to wash their hands of this game and move to projects that people actually want to see I feel that it would be more interesting to address and deal with the fallout of this game and make something of it so we got SOMETHING out of this mess that was worthwhile.

This game will have no "next game". It's done and dead.

Of course it is, but this game is (supposedly) in canon with the Arkham Games and there will be another game set in the Arkham series, especially with the success of Arkham Shadow. My whole argument was if the series should deal with the fallout of this game. Sure it was mostly pointless at the end now that the Justice League are alive again but there is a story to explore about what happens after.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:40 am This game will have no "next game". As I said, one story they could do is a story about finding a way to bring back Wonder Woman. The League can go to the Underworld, work with Hades who in some continuities is Diana's friend. Deal with Ares, Circe and Cheeta along with other villains while the league does everything in their power to bring back their friend.
But as I also said, odds are good that DC and Rocksteady are just going to move on and pretend this game never happened either by time jump or just having this set in a different continuity altogether with just a throwaway line and then go on like nothing happened. But I think they should address this story because just ignoring it is the easy way out.
One of posts on this site is asking the question, remaking films that were bad to give them a second chance. My argument here is making a sequel to a game that was, let's be honest, one big pile of shit. One that no one likes. It's easy to just reboot everything, much harder to make something from out of something everyone universally hated.
