The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom aka They FINALLY Made a Zelda Game Where we Plays as Zelda

Yes, you read that right, after... 39 Years, Really?! Em, we finally have a mainline Legend of Zelda game where we play as the title character. This has always been something I find funny as the title character of the series is rarely the actual focus of it and sometimes she just straight up doesn't appear in a game. It's only been in the last decade or so where Zelda was given more focus and treated as The Main character.

The most notable example being the Breath of the Wild games where Link's part of the game is used as more of a framing device where as Zelda is given more focus in the cutscenes. But this is the first time in the series that Zelda has been the character we play as, at least in the mainline games as other games do have has as a playable character like Hyrule Warriors and other battle games.

But in terms of mainline games, I can't think of a single instance where we played as Zelda. We've played as Link of course throughout the series and we've been able to play as other characters like Medli and to a lesser extent Midna (yes she counts) but Zelda? I can't think of one game where we play as her, even for a few minutes.

So this is honestly pretty neat... until you realize that Zelda is also a silent protagonist... This honestly bugs me because there is no reason to make Zelda a silent protagonist, she has had dialogue throughout the series and has been given a clear overall personality and in this game, she's basically Link from the older games.

I really don't understand this, if you're going to FINALLY let us play as Princess Zelda why are you keeping her quite. Part of the reason that fans have wanted to play as Zelda is because she's become such a well rounded character and they want play as that character but for whatever reason as soon as you play as Zelda she no longer speaks taking away one of the reasons fans wanted to play as her to begin with.

I haven't played the game yet but this honestly bugs me because it removes the option to play as Zelda but it's no different then if we were playing as Link. Wasted opportunity IMO.
