Inspired by Winter's superpower question, lets do the same for fictional objects. For reference, I am defining the concept of an object as something that you could realistically carry and preferably something based on technology as opposed to magic (no matter how absurd the science behind it is).
1) Sonic screwdriver. That's a given really. Although in reality it would probably be incredibly complicated to use. It seemingly has 5,000 different functions with no proper interface to tell you which ability you are using. I actually wonder if Tom Baker's Sonic would be preferable over the modern ones.
2) Jack Harkness's armband: There are a lot of cool things that armband can do. Time and space travel, teleporter, scanning, communicator, hacking. And it is implied to be nearly indestructible.
3) Dragonball capsules. The ability to carry around in your pocket a house, car, plane etc. with all of the supplies that you need would make travelling highly convenient.
4) Green Lantern Ring. This one is an interesting pick because remember it is technology. Technology based on fictional science, but still, it's not like picking a magic wand or something. The issue is that it would require incredible willpower and imagination to use effectively. But if you could do it, what amazing heights you could reach. I wonder if maybe another power ring would be a better choice depending on your personality. Sadly, I think a lot of people would get on well with selfish orange or fearful yellow.
5) Phaser Type-1. My back up weapon if I cannot get my ring working. I always liked the old pocket phasers. Small enough to hide anywhere, powerful enough to vaporise someone. The addition of a stun setting and the ability to heat rocks makes it a valuable survival tool too.
Honourable mention: Lightsaber. I wanted to pick this. Really I did. But without the Force it really would be a very limited-use weapon. Good in a bar fight though.
Hypothetical question: What five fictional objects would you like to have?

Avoiding pure weapons for the same reasons I don't carry a gun IRL:
1) Sonic screwdriver also. Matt Smith's is my personal favorite.
2) Kevyn's glasses from Schlock mercenary. Has a HUD connected to a database and lets him see into the infrared and ultraviolet.
3) Mass Effect Omnitool. For everything the Sonic Screwdriver can't do. Doubles as an emergency melee weapon.
4) Some variant of pockets that are bigger on the inside. That portable transporter buffer that Star Trek occasionally remembers they have would probably be best just for weight management.
5) Universal Translator.

One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars.
Re: Hypothetical question: What five fictional objects would you like to have?
1. Lightsaber. Just want one. If it's true that lightsabers are heavier than they look then I am sure I would be useless without it anyway. But just want one.
2. Dino caps. What they call them in Dragonball dub. But Capsule capsules. Infinitely useful.
3. Roman's gun. The one he uses in Stargate Atlantis. Powerful and seems to not have an issue with recharge. He carried it without Atlantean tech to recharge it before he joined. Seems like it does it on its own. Or doesn't require alot to recharge it.
4. Green Lantern Ring. For all of the obvious reasons.
5. Does the Black Panther suit from the MCU count? You carry it on you and only activate it when you want it too. But if that's true I might want the Iron Man nano suit instead.
I really feel like I missing really good ones but this is the best I can think of right now.

I got nothing to say here.

1, Proton Pack. As it is an unlicensed nuclear accelerators and with a half life of 5000 year it would be able to power and recharge any device I could want.
2, Tricorder model T-88. Small enough to be seen as a normal gadget and not too flashy. Also useful to scan the Proton Pack and learn how to use it as a power source.
3, Combadge from Lower Decks. Latest model which would interface with the T-88 and also function as a universal translator.
4, Mobile Emitter. Great for changing your look and could possibly double as a personal shield and maybe even EV suit.
5, Levitation boots from ST5. Great for personal transport! Interface it with the Proton Pack for Power and range.

It's OK to make mistakes as long as you don't make the same ones. If you do then you're not learning.

I'm updating my list because I've just remembered one: did anyone here ever watch Ben 10?
How could you ever not include the Omnitrix?
And what makes me wonder, in theory, you could turn into a Saiyan, or a Kryptonian, or a Time Lord etc. and have all of their powers. It would require you to actually seek out their DNA but it could be done. It is broken beyond belief.

Would something that is self contained that expands out to be armor count?
Just thinking about the Guyver unit. It has flight, super strength, regeneration, very durable, energy weapons. Even bladed weapons.

I don't see why not. Another one would be Iron Man's nano suit from Infinity War. He keeps that thing on his arm if I remember correctly.

I think he keeps it on his chest. Maybe a hoodie? I am not sure. That suit up sequence is a bit confusing. Taps his chest, pulls his hoodie string, removes his sun glasses.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 3:20 pmI don't see why not. Another one would be Iron Man's nano suit from Infinity War.
