That's the first time I've heard of a pastry-like scone!

Apparently they're an American thing? Triangular shape, fruit baked in, usually glazed.

I've never had a ''biscuit'' so i'm just going by the images, but it REALLY looks like a scone to me. I'm completely open to being corrected though.

Edit: So I just Googled ''American scone'' and you're right, its nothing like a British scone. What a fantastic piece of evidence we've just witnessed for the Darmok effect in action.

I only get the jam (which I think is jelly in the USA, just to add to the picture!) and cream picture there, nothing for the other two. And what sort of person puts the jam on first?! Are you one of those strange people from the other side of the Tamar?

Jam we still call jam, jelly is different it's made from fruit juice instead of the whole fruit.

I also only see the one picture.

American buiscut and gravy BTW isn't exactly wide spread here. You would have to go to certain diners that actually serve it, kinda like if you want a bowl of grits. It's a more Southern thing than a American thing.

Buiscuts are airy, flakey and buttery kind of thing. The gravy is just white peppered gravy with sausage in it. Very close to SOS or shit on a shingle. Which is bread covered with a white gravy with chipped beef in it.

When I was in Portsmouth England back in 2009. There was a commotion of a few sailors who wanted biscuits and gravy thinking everyone served it because these kids never ventured out of their little hill billy town. Didn't understand that dish isnt even served everywhere in the US.

Also, my first stop in Portsmouth was for coffee. They asked me white or black. Had no idea what white meant, and I asked. She gave me that look that you give to dumb Americans, 'it's with cow's milk'. Here I was thinking I was about to have a interesting new take on coffee. Nope it's just coffee with milk.
I got nothing to say here.

Oh dang, how have I got to current age without being aware that gravy in the US is different to our gravy. I'd heard of the dish, I figured the biscuits were different because of the biscuit/cookie thing, but I had always assumed up to now that dish involved UK gravy. Huh.

Ok yeah chrome worked. Firefox just randomly didn't like the other two pictures I guess.

Fixed Your Post. You used links to tagged pictures through a search engine. Firefox refusing to resolve these links is actually a security feature. Chrome and co shrug and just do what the plaintext tells them to do and send the data-request to the search engine you are linking through, which can lead to... let's call it... unwanted results. Firefox specifically does not, to save you from yourself, since it expects a picture-link in between the image-tags (but gets a search engine request instead). ;)

For future reference:

Code: Select all

https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.b1708ca5ac932e78018de50c035c792d?rik=tvWrjLfm2VP2aQ&riu=http%3a%2f%2fdaisyt13.files.wordpress.com%2f2012%2f01%2fbiscuits-and-gravy-e1327273264297.jpg&ehk=3i0haTPh7r5JEGJuVMX74zDBK58kK3FJnLRmISQEKps%3d&risl=&pid=ImgRaw&r=0
First remove the Tag. Check for a regular file extension, in this case .jpg and delete everything after it:

Code: Select all

https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.b1708ca5ac932e78018de50c035c792d?rik=tvWrjLfm2VP2aQ&riu=http%3a%2f%2fdaisyt13.files.wordpress.com%2f2012%2f01%2fbiscuits-and-gravy-e1327273264297.jpg
Then remove the link to the search engine referal. Look for the first http(s) and the second http(s) and delete everything from one to the other:

Code: Select all

http%3a%2f%2fdaisyt13.files.wordpress.com%2f2012%2f01%2fbiscuits-and-gravy-e1327273264297.jpg
Next replace hexadecimal codes with the "proper" signs. %-signs followed by a combination of 2 letters or numbers are what you are looking for. %3a translates to : and %2f translates to /

Code: Select all

http://daisyt13.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/biscuits-and-gravy-e1327273264297.jpg
Add image-tags manually or use the forum-software to do it for you:

Code: Select all

Et voila.

Alternatively, just write the link down without any tags:

Surf save ;)
