It clearly isn't though. It's a buddy cop movie that's paced like a buddy cop movie. One that's not as good as the original Lethal Weapon or Bad Boys but probably somewhere on the level of the later Lethal Weapons.

It's not settting stuff up for a later series, and the lack of doing so is what lots people are actually complaining about (because a TV pilot does actually have to explain things not currently related to the current drama in order to let people greenlighting it know where the series is going to go), which would be that "worldbuilding" people say is missing.

Also, again, none of that tells us anything about why Noomi Rapace thinks bringing the Dark Lord back is a good plan and why Lucy Fry used to think so but doesn't any more, just that they're part of an organisation not acting alone. (Again, this is the one thing the film is actually missing worldbuilding-wise, because it would inform the current drama and the characters involved in it).

I feel it be better if it was, the setting don't have much room to breath in it's current format

Mind you, the sequel is already in production.

The setting didn't bother me. Like "The Invention of Lying," it goes with "everything isn't totally different because reasons" that I chalk up as something akin to conservation of detail. I can see why that bothers some people, though.

So the metaphor for racism might be considered as, you know, just possibly a tad bit unsubtle. Didn't bother me either; sometimes dropping an anvil works. I like that the racists at least sometimes weren't being racist for the evulz, but because they think it's the logical thing to do.
