Nagini (Voldemort's snake) is a woman now. An actual woman. And it is bullshit that this was not alluded to even slightly throughout any of the scenes that she was in previously.

A shapeshifting woman? Or was she transformed into a snake at some point? Or is the whole snake thing forgotten, and now she's a woman for all intents and purposes? Or is she a Naga or something now?

I don't think anyone knows yet, I may be wrong.

That is objectively stupid, nonsensical, and completely unnecessary.

...kind of like that 'starchild' that so many people insist shows up at the end of Mass Effect 3, when we all know that it fades to black after Anderson dies and you wake up on the Normandy so you can go do the REAL ending which is that party with Wrex and the whole gang on the Citadel at Anderson's sweet bachelor pad.

Short version is Rowling said "actually Nagini is Asian representation because she was an asian woman who was turned into a snake."

Which...which why...that doesn't add anything to the lore and it raises huge questions and it's another example of her trying to retcon things for...reasons.

You know, I now feel compelled to elaborate.
I will start with the good.
1) JK Rowling has a melodic writing style. It is easy to read, it flows, it has rhythm.
2) She has a good blend of the cute and the macabre, a tone that works.
3) Harry is an excellent protagonist. A hapless dipshit with daddy issues, constantly down on his luck, neglected by authority figures, and not especially good at anything but flying which is a surprisingly useless ability in a world where most people can get around by numerous different means.
4) Hogwarts is a fun magical location. I see its appeal.

Bad stuff that kind of kills it all for me.
1) She is awful at plotting out her stories, far too many stories feel like a solution is pulled out the air (magic trick) at the last minute.
2) A lot of the inciting action to the story is really stupid. The Tri-Wizard tournament is especially stupid, I get aggravated thinking about it.
3) Idiot plots happen too often. There are so many instances in which things spiral out of control because the adults just don't do something slightly different.
4) Dystopia. The wizard world is a cruel, backward, unpleasant place that makes little sense. Quidditch is perhaps the best examples of the nonsense, but the candy which can taste like literal shit is even better.
5) Dumbledore is the worst teacher/mentor ever and does a god awful job prepping the kids for needing to save the day.
6) Snape is a creepy dickhead, and I have no idea why/how Harry could see him as anything but god awful. Fuck, if Harry had died and Lily had lived, Snape would have hit on her at the burial. Fuck'm.
