He has complex feelings on the matter, and it seems a disservice to the man if you're going to ignore anything that contradicts you as spin-doctoring. Saying he's unhappy wouldn't be totally inaccurate, but it's really obvious you're just ignoring any statements he made that doesn't support your "Hamill actually hates TLJ" theory. The funny thing he's actually commented on this himself:
My problem was, I wasn’t dealing with social media back then, where you say something and it goes around the world in 24 hours! If I were to answer your questions on paper, I’d think: oh, that sounds a little strong, or, I shouldn’t say this. But I have a tendency just to talk and talk and talk, and you can cherrypick. You know, I’ll be reading something, and say, “What moron said this?”, and then realise, “Oh, it’s me.” They can take selective comments you’ve made out of context and use it to support their argument: “See, Mark hated Star Wars!” “Did I?”

He's just saying that to "mend bridges." The backlash from people who liked Last Jedi was such he had to apologize. Hell, this is the same dude who was horrified when he went into that "Star Wars is only about making money" speech in front of people. He's obviously toeing the line a bit just for the sake of politeness or not to hurt people. But no, I don't think he hates Last Jedi. I do find it validating that he agrees that character wasn't Luke. And that he'd probably be happier playing his Legends self - if he ever became aware of it.

Sure I can believe he's toeing the line partially out of decency, but it's also pretty clear it's partially to respond to people who continuously take his comments out of context.

There is no taking anything out of context that he agrees that wasn't Luke Skywalker, and in that sense, if he ever became aware of his journey in Legends, I feel as if he might think that would be more consistent with Luke, and that he'd have preferred playing that.

I can imagine TUC being released today and Shatner's objections over how Kirk was written would be used by many fans over social media as a way of denouncing the film as a betrayal to Star Trek's characters and morals.

There's Hamill's views coupled side by side with the fact that character wasn't Luke. Nada. Not at all. When you have both those, then it all clicks into place.

And I disagree with him.

Then lemme just create another thread, because this one is going way off topic.
