Is there anyone here that has given this show a watch? It's my understanding that when Michael Piller started this side project of his it kind of caused friction between him and the writing staff of VOY, as they felt he abandoned by him for going off to make this short lived show during most of the first season. Looking at the credits it seemed Piller brought a long some of Trek production crew along with him. Did he do this due to his dissatisfaction with VOY not shaping up as he wanted? I get he lost creative battles on that show, and wonder if doing this was a way for him to kind of set loose. Given it didn't last beyond its short run, I imagine returning to VOY for its second season was awkward.

I'm really intrigued to try to give this a look. Great lead actors in a steampunk setting sounds like it could be some fun.

I don't know about friction at the Voyager office (although that'd have been nothing new, by all accounts), but I remember Legend getting a lot of promotion at the time - UPN was just starting up, and really wanted to have a broader stable of shows than just Voyager to its name, of course. Someone with Piller's connections at the Paramount lot probably had a golden opportunity to have a show of his own - even if he'd been happy at Voyager, the chance to sit in the big chair wouldn't have been easy to pass up.

I know I watched it, but I honestly can't tell you anything about it, besides a non-specific feeling of 'it was okay'.

I watched it and enjoyed it, but it didn't really stand out to me. The central concept seemed like it would help with some story ideas.

I watched it at the time and enjoyed it. My brother recently got the DVD release and I've now seen the pilot in recent memory. It holds up decently well. The pacing is a bit lopsided, as it takes a while for the premise to get moving, but if you enjoy the actors just being in a steampunk western it's entertaining enough. I want to watch more.
