Is Last Jedi Luke's actions consistent with Luke's character from the original movies?

To clarify what I said earlier: I probably could have been more accepting of the changes to the characters and story if The Last Jedi had at least been a good movie in its own right. I still wouldn't have agreed with some of the things they did, but I at least could have accepted it on its own terms.

Well, there was no buildup. I see Legends Luke as branching off what was established in the original trilogy. You wanna build up a bitter, disgruntled, nihilistic Luke, then you need what Grandmaster Luke had - 30 years of lore at your back, and he does not have that. I do think in time, if the EU sells this better, people will come to accept this version of Luke a lot better. That's assuming, of course, Abrams doesn't just completely jettison that interpretation and is all, "lolnope, here's some Legends Luke for ya!"
