maybe there was a reason, or maybe there wasn't. but either way, if you don't like the new name, you don't have to use it. so why get upset?

I'm not getting upset because I'm not particularly into the wider Star Wars scene. I just understand people who are. It's rather lazy and dismissive to mess around with things like that and then say "suck it up because it's not really important." I find this especially true in fiction - sure, it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but a sign of doing a good job in fiction is creating something that people do start to care about.
