CGI, like any other tool, is perfectly fine depending on the execution. Even practical effects can be terrible if not done correctly, as we saw in STAR TREK V.

Re: Is it just me?
I remember seeing this movie in theaters and was very fond of it as a story set in a small town with a major catastrophe. I like remembering action mini-blockbusters like this in the 90s, as well as gritty turn of the century movies involving gratuitous crime and such. Perhaps it's a bit of nostalgia.
Yup. I agree. I understand the appreciation for practical effects, but I don't weigh blunders more heavily on CGI for the fact that I simply notice it. I know that practical effects crowd isn't that weird about it, but I've never thought twice about CGI as an exploitation of movie convention.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 9:02 pm CGI, like any other tool, is perfectly fine depending on the execution.
