Favorite moment in ID4?

Post by Yukaphile »

I know it's probably pretty cliche for most people to say, "When they blow up the cities," but for me personally, it's when they're entering the alien mothership, the music is low-key, yet ominous, and it really sells you on the sense the two characters are seeing something big and majestic no human has ever seen before, and despite their disdain for the aliens, they're still nevertheless awed by it.

Either when AF1 is flying away from the explosion or when we first see the Area 51 basement. Or probably actually when they wonder if the ship's even capable of flying and all he does is clear the stands holding it up to show it floating.

When Will Smith punches the alien. We're all so accustomed to that not working in the movies or TV that it's cathartic when it does.

I believe the line was "Just tell them I hit you,' which in any case the T in tell wouldn't be capitalized.

For me it has to be Judd Hirsch. I know you said moment. But his interplay with his son outside the White House.
"You can do that?"
"Yeah dad. All us 'cable repairmen' can."

And his scene with Constance.
"All you need is love, John Lennon, smart man, shot in the back very sad."

I have met people like him and it made the movie feel more real. For lack of a better term.
